Commercial Waste Zoning is Coming Soon

DSNY is overhauling how businesses manage their waste to make things safer, fairer, and greener

The city is now divided into 20 zones

Each zone has 3 approved companies to offer trash and recycling services to businesses. Customers must comply with new contracting, billing, and environmental regulations
The Commercial Waste Zones (CWZ) program creates a safe and efficient commercial waste collection system that advances the City’s Green New Deal and zero waste goals while providing high-quality, low-cost service to NYC businesses.

Brooklyn West CWZ 

New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has defined the geographical area around your business as Brooklyn West.  This area encompasses Brooklyn's Community Boards 2, 6 & 7. 
After conducting an intensive vetting process, DSNY has awarded three private companies the rights to service the waste management needs of the Brooklyn West business community.

Businesses will have options for trash collection, which means competitive prices and better service

Trucks will include the latest safety equipment and technology; workers receive more training

What's Next?

Rollout kicks off in Queens Central zone this September '24, with service starting officially in January 2025. Insights from this zone drive rollout in the other 19 zones through 2025 and 2026. DSNY's schedule soon be announced
